Tripura Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen Suffers Brain Stroke at Agartala Railway Station, Undergoes Emergency Treatment at ILS hospital

In a sudden and alarming development, the Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Shri Biswa Bandhu Sen, fell seriously ill at the Agartala Railway Station on Thursday evening while preparing to board a train to Dharmanagar, his hometown.
According to official sources, Shri Sen collapsed inside a washroom at the station premises. He was immediately rushed to Tripura Medical College and Dr. BRAM Teaching Hospital (TMC) at Hapania. Upon examination, doctors confirmed that he had suffered an internal brain haemorrhage, a result of a brain stroke, and recommended urgent surgery.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha promptly visited the hospital upon receiving the news and personally enquired about the Speaker’s condition. In an official statement, Dr. Saha said:
> “Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Shri Biswa Bandhu Sen, was travelling to Dharmanagar by train. While at Agartala Railway Station, he suddenly fell unconscious in the washroom. He was immediately shifted to Tripura Medical College, where medical examination revealed an internal brain haemorrhage. Doctors have advised immediate surgery. May God bless him with strength, and I pray for his speedy and complete recovery.”
Leader of the Opposition Shri Jitendra Choudhury also rushed to the hospital to check on the Speaker’s condition and offered his support to the family.
Shri Biswa Bandhu Sen had reportedly reached the railway station in the evening to board the Dharmanagar-bound train. His sudden illness shocked nearby passengers and railway staff, who quickly alerted authorities. He was initially taken to the nearest medical unit before being shifted to TMC Hapania for specialized care. Later he was shifted to ILS hospital for immediate surgery.
The entire state is praying for the swift recovery of Shri Biswa Bandhu Sen, a respected and senior political figure in Tripura. Further updates on his health condition are awaited.
