Despite the practically cosmetic anti-Bangladeshi and anti-Rohingiya deportation drive undertaken by security forces in different states, Tripura’s bordering area, specially Madhupur under Bishalgarh subdivision, continues to be the hotspot for trafficking of terroristic Rohingiyas and infiltrators from Bangladesh by treacherous Indian traffickers and corrupt police personnel. The worst culprit in this regard is the Madhupur police station and its corrupt-to-the-bone officer in charge Debojit Chatterjee who extort hefty amounts from the Indian trafficker criminals operating along the border.

This sordid fact, known for a long time, has come to light in sharp relief from the allegations made to media by a hapless resident of Uttar Kaiyadhepa village under Madhupur police station. Speaking to media persons Kajal Das and his wife Kalpana Das said that a gang of Indian traffickers operating along the border have been regularly bringing in Rohingiyas and infiltrators from Bangladesh in lieu of hefty amounts extorted from them. They bring the infiltrators from across the border by helping them scale border fencing and guide them through rubber gardens to Madhupur before sending them to Agartala railway station or to Chandrapur bus station. The traffickers face no problem as the Madhupur police station is on their payroll and the policemen , specially the OC move from house to house of the traffickers to extort their monthly or weekly amounts.

“A number of families living close to bordering rubber gardens in Uttar Kaiyadhepa had been forced to leave their homes because of the depredations of the traffickers, mostly criminals , but we had stayed on ; recently we had objected to the movement of the traffickers across our house and forced sheltering of the Rohingiyas in our house or nearby ; we had also informed the OC Madhupur of the matter but no action was taken; soon thereafter the gang of traffickers stormed our house and vandalised it besides looting gold ornaments purchased for the marriage of our two daughters and also cash” said Kajal Shil. He said that in the wake of this incident he had filed a written complaint with the corrupt and money-addict OC Debojit Chatterjee but he took no action . Having no other alternative Kajal Shil met the SDPO Bishalgarh Dulal Datta and made a submission to him about his woes in detail but so far no action has been taken. Kajal Shil said that he is living in total insecurity in his residence with his wife Kalpana and two daughters and sought help from the media. Interestingly the SP (Sepahijala) has not shown any interest in taking action against the anti-national traffickers who are illegally earning millions by their trafficking activities, hurting the vital interests of the nation and the state.
