In a landmark healthcare initiative, the Rotary Club of Aspiring Agartala, in collaboration with Tripura Medical College (TMC), launched the ambitious and transformative DRISTYPATH project at TMC on July 31. The project was officially inaugurated by Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha in a ceremonious event that reflected Rotary’s global motto, "Service Above Self."
The event marked a significant step in community healthcare outreach, aimed at improving both vision and mobility for underprivileged sections of Tripura. The Rotary Club’s team, led by President Dr. Damodar Chatterjee, Secretary Smt. Jhumur Banik Sengupta, and Treasurer Dr. Soubhik Debbarma, along with all dedicated members, played a pivotal role in bringing this humanitarian mission to life.
Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha was warmly welcomed by Secretary Smt. Jhumur Banik Sengupta and Dr. Baishali Saha, following which he formally launched the project, appreciating the initiative for its grassroots-level impact.
The DRISTYPATH initiative is designed to serve two major healthcare needs:
Vision Care for Children: Free spectacles will be distributed to children below 14 years of age after detailed eye examinations conducted by specialists, including advanced computer-aided eye testing. This ensures early detection of vision problems and promotes better academic and social development.
Mobility Support for Surgery Patients: The project also provides free orthotic support to patients recovering from hip and knee replacement surgeries, thereby aiding post-operative rehabilitation and improving quality of life.
The project is being spearheaded by Rtn. Dr. Amar Kanti Chakma and Rtn. Dr. Rajib Debnath, and is set to run for a full year. The first phase was launched successfully, with many beneficiaries already identified for the upcoming screenings and support.
By addressing these vital healthcare challenges, DRISTYPATH is setting a new benchmark for community health projects in the state. The initiative stands as a shining example of collaborative service, combining Rotary’s compassionate outreach with TMC’s medical expertise to create lasting and meaningful change.
This launch reiterates the role of Rotary in societal development and showcases Tripura’s progressive strides in public health under the guidance of leaders committed to inclusive growth.
