Tripura Government Unveils State Disaster Management Plan 2024-25, Launches New Tech-Based Initiatives for Citizen Safety

Guided by the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government of Tripura has reaffirmed its commitment to harnessing technological advancement to protect the lives and properties of citizens during natural and man-made disasters.
In a significant move towards this goal, the new State Disaster Management Plan (SDMP) 2024–25 was officially unveiled today in presence of Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha, Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Director General of Police Anurag Dhankar and Secretary of Revenue Department Brijesh Pandey at the conference hall of the State Secretariat (Mahakaran), marking the release of such a comprehensive plan after a gap of nine years.
The unveiling ceremony, organised by the Revenue Department, also witnessed the inauguration of several crucial disaster preparedness and management initiatives aimed at strengthening the state's resilience infrastructure. These include:
Technology Demonstration Unit at Hapania: A modern facility to showcase and train stakeholders on the use of disaster response technologies.
Civil Defence Training Programme: A structured training initiative to build a trained community response force for emergencies.
Installation of 26 Automated Weather Stations and Rain Gauges across the state: To ensure real-time weather monitoring and early warning capabilities.
Online Portal for Disaster Management Equipment Verification: A digital platform to ensure timely and efficient verification of critical emergency equipment.
Online Portal for Land Use Change (Diversion of Land): To streamline and make transparent the process of land use approvals and diversions in disaster-sensitive areas.
These timely initiatives are designed to ensure that Tripura remains prepared, responsive, and adaptive in the face of evolving disaster risks, while prioritising the safety and security of its people.
