A total of Rs. 45.43 crore has been successfully credited to the bank accounts of 2,84,000 farmers in Tripura under the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. The distribution took place today as part of a special program held at the State Agricultural Research Centre, Arundhatinagar, Agartala.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha personally attended the event and took part in the symbolic transfer ceremony to recognize and honour the state's hardworking farmers. Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath was also present at the occasion.

The state-level program was aligned with the national event held at Banuali in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally launched the 20th installment and transferred Rs. 20,500 crore to the bank accounts of approximately 9.70 crore farmers across India through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Speaking at the Agartala event, Chief Minister Dr. Saha praised the PM-KISAN scheme as a transformative initiative for the farming community.

“The direct transfer of Rs.45.43 crore into the accounts of 2.84 lakh farmers in Tripura reflects the strong commitment of both the central and state governments towards farmer welfare, digital governance, and transparent public service,” he said.

He emphasized that the scheme has not only eased the financial burden of small and marginal farmers but also boosted confidence in the government’s ability to ensure timely and corruption-free benefit delivery.

The PM-KISAN scheme, launched in 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, provides Rs. 6,000 per year to eligible farmers in three equal installments. The initiative is aimed at supporting farmers in meeting agricultural expenses, purchasing inputs, and improving their overall financial stability.

The successful disbursement of the 20th installment once again highlights the efficiency of digital transfer systems, and the government’s unwavering focus on empowering India’s annadatas (food providers).
