Four persons including TSR jawan killed in road mishap Enova vehicle rams into standing police vehicle

In what is by now almost a daily occurrence, four persons including a serving TSR jawan died on the spot as a speeding private Enova vehicle rammed into a road side police vehicle that was under repair. After being taken to Unakoti district hospital in Kailasahar all four were declared ‘brought dead’ by the doctor on duty.

Giving details police sources said that around 12-30 last night a police vehicle was under repair beside the national highway at Chirakuti area near Kumarghat . At that time a private Enova vehicle (TR-02-M-0599) sped up from the side of Dharma Nagar and straightway rammed into the vehicle after hitting TSR Jawan Milan Debbarma of Khowai who had been standing near the police vehicle on the road. Under the impact of the ramming the driver and owner of the Enova vehicle Sajjad Ali and passengers Akhtar Ali and Banbir Shabdakar died on the spot along with TSR jawan Milan Debbarma.

All the injured were taken by local people to Unakoti district hospital in Kailasahar but all four were declared ‘brought dead’. Sources from Kumarghat said that the tyre of the police vehicle had burst and been damaged and it was being replaced TSR jawans with another tyre and it was at this time that the Enova vehicle had sped up and rammed into the standing police vehicle. Amidst grief in the area over the death of an avoidable accident the people wondered why the Enova vehicle had been running with such high speed and demanded an investigation to ascertain whether it had been carrying contraband narcotics.
