The students of Tilla Bazar Fazil ‘Madrasa’ school launched a blockade programme on the Tilla Bazar-Babur Bazar and Tilla Bazar-Ranguti roads to protest the transfer of popular teacher Sirajul Islam , bringing movement of traffic on both the roads to a standstill . The Tilla Bazar Fazil ‘Madrasa’ school is already adversely affected by lack of adequate teaching staff as there has been no new posting over the past several years. This is also causing suffering to the students in their studies. A senior student of the school said that the transfer of popular teacher Sirajul Islam is unacceptable as he has proved his mettle as a good teacher and there is no replacement. The student also said that unless the transfer order is reversed a large protest movement will be launched by locking up the school.
After the traffic movement on both sides of the two roads had come to a stop the sub-divisional police officer Jayanta Karmakar reached the spot and tried to reason with the agitating students but they remained adamant. However, till latest reports came in no official from the district education department or from the Inspector of Schools (IS) reached the spot to persuade the students to withdraw the blockade . The guardians of the area also lent their support to the agitating students and said that acute shortage of teachers has already started taking its toll on school education but the education department is silent. They also threatened to escalate the agitation unless transfer order of Sirajul Islam was reversed and new teachers posted in the ‘Madrasa’ school.
