Tripurainfo.com has expressed deep concern and disappointment over a misleading and malicious report published on the front page of a daily newspaper on July 29 and again today, July 30, 2025. The report alleged that "a data businessman was gifted a major facility by the Power Corporation while the Power Minister was kept in the dark." Tripurainfo.com has categorically denied this as false, baseless, and a deliberate attempt to tarnish the reputation of a respected digital institution.

The actual facts are as follows:

On July 26, 2025, the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) installed a 100 kW transformer near the Tripurainfo office. However, on the morning of July 28, TSECL unexpectedly removed the newly installed transformer without prior notice. This was surprising, as the transformer had been installed after inspection by engineers and officials to serve public interest, considering the area’s growing power demand.

Tripurainfo.com is Tripura’s first digital news platform, established in 2001, and has consistently served the people with online news, information services, and general knowledge initiatives like the Mega Quiz. It also provides verified information on government schemes, job vacancies, and Tripura's history. Over time, it has become a trusted and dependable digital hub in the state.

The Lichubagan office of Tripurainfo functions as an authorized online exam centre, catering to hundreds of examinees daily from both government and private sectors. For such an operation, uninterrupted power supply is critical. Repeated power cuts have caused severe damage to multiple computers and two high-capacity online UPS units, disrupting crucial examinations and resulting in significant financial loss.

Following this, Tripurainfo.com officially submitted a complaint to TSECL. In response, TSECL's Managing Director and engineers visited the site and decided to install a transformer in the area as part of Tripura’s broader load management strategy. Despite this factual background, certain newspapers have published intentionally distorted stories to defame both TSECL and Tripurainfo.com.

Tripurainfo.com would like to clarify the following:

1. The transformer was not installed solely for Tripurainfo.com. It was meant to address increasing power demand in the surrounding area.

2. Tripurainfo.com has never received any illegal benefit from any government official and strictly follows all regulatory norms.

3. The claim that Tripurainfo.com received free government land during the Left regime is completely false. The land in Lichubagan was purchased at government rate and all legal documents are available.

Notably, Editor and founder of Tripurainfo.com, Mr. Jayanta Debnath, who has been involved in journalism since 1990 under the guidance of the late Bhupen Dutta Bhowmik, emphasized the need for responsible journalism. Since founding Tripurainfo in 2001, he has continuously worked to make digital journalism in Tripura credible and transparent.

Tripurainfo.com strongly urges the media fraternity to verify facts before publishing and uphold the basic ethics and integrity of journalism. Publishing false news not only damages the reputation of institutions but also erodes public trust in the press.

Tripurainfo.com stands firmly for truth and reserves the right to pursue legal action against those spreading defamatory misinformation.
