Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has strongly condemned the violent attack allegedly carried out by Tipra Motha party workers today during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme in Asharambari. Terming the incident as “shameful” and “anti-democratic,” the Chief Minister expressed deep concern over the assault on BJP Janajati Morcha members and assured strict legal action against the perpetrators.
Late tonight, Dr. Saha visited GB Hospital in Agartala to meet the injured BJP workers undergoing treatment. He enquired in detail about their medical condition and spoke to the attending doctors, instructing them to ensure proper and speedy treatment for all the injured. As of now, five party workers have been hospitalized, three of whom are still under treatment.
Speaking to the media inside the hospital premises, the Chief Minister stated, “The attackers were miscreants associated with Tipra Motha. Local residents have already informed the police about those involved. An FIR has been lodged, and the police are taking legal action.”
He further questioned the political ethics of Tipra Motha leadership, saying, “What kind of political culture is this? People across the country eagerly wait to listen to the Prime Minister’s 'Mann Ki Baat'. Can anyone imagine that during such a programme, people would be assaulted? This is nothing but an unethical and politically uncivilized act, and we will not tolerate it.”
The Chief Minister expressed his strong displeasure over the incident on his social media handles as well, where he blamed the Tipra Motha miscreants for the violence. “Many of our BJP karyakartas have been injured, and three of them are currently under treatment in GB Hospital. I personally visited them and gave necessary instructions to the medical team to ensure their recovery.”
Dr. Saha added that he has already directed the police to take strict legal action against those involved. “The government wants to make it very clear, such shameless and violent attacks will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”
Meanwhile, in connection with the incident involving attacks on BJP workers, damage to vehicles and bikes, the Khowai District Police have already initiated action. Shortly after the attack, the prime accused was apprehended. BJP leaders, including those from the Janajati Morcha, have met the Superintendent of Police of Khowai district Ratnaditya Das and demanded the immediate arrest of all those involved.
The state administration has assured that justice will be delivered and that such acts of violence will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.
