In a scathing attack on the BJP's governance, Congress leader and Kailashahar MLA Birajit Sinha on Sunday accused the ruling party of promoting misinformation, factional politics, violence, and even murder. Speaking at an extended meeting of the Unakoti District Congress held at his residence in Paiturbazar, Sinha declared, “BJP’s four traits are propaganda, factionalism, hooliganism, and murder. We must unite and resist this misrule.”
The meeting was chaired by Unakoti District Congress president Mohammad Badruzzaman and was attended by Congress leaders and workers from various areas of the district including Fatikroy, Kumarghat, Pabiachhara, and Karamchhara. The gathering was part of the party’s preparations to strengthen its grassroots base ahead of the upcoming ADC (Autonomous District Council) elections.
Key issues discussed during the meeting included the ongoing agitation against the installation of smart meters, campaigns against child marriage, expansion of healthcare services, and a strong anti-drug awareness drive. The Congress party announced plans to intensify its outreach through street meetings, market campaigns, courtyard gatherings, and widespread door-to-door campaigns across the district.
From the same platform, Congress also declared its intent to launch agitation on multiple fronts including law and order issues in the Unakoti district, demands for improved airport and railway infrastructure, and broader concerns over the BJP-led state government’s governance.
Along with MLA Birajit Sinha, other key speakers at the event included district president Mohammad Badruzzaman, senior Congress leader Rudrendu Bhattacharjee, vice-president Ashwini Debbarma, Shyamal Bhattacharjee, and several leaders from the Youth Congress.
Birajit Sinha, in his address, further said, “There is no path without struggle. Public anger is growing against BJP’s misrule. If we can utilize this momentum to strengthen our organization, Congress can return to power in Tripura.”
The meeting concluded with a strong message: speeches alone will not strengthen the party—leaders and workers must stand by the people and take the movement to the streets. Congress aims to build a consistent and organized protest across all regions of the district to regain public trust and political ground.
