Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan to Launch 10 Tribal Homestays in South Tripura: Boost to Heritage Tourism and Local Economy

In a major step towards empowering tribal communities and promoting sustainable tourism, the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) is set to roll out 10 new Tribal Homestays in South Tripura. This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, aims to create new livelihood opportunities while showcasing the region’s rich tribal heritage.

Under the Swadesh Darshan scheme, the Government of India will provide 100% funding for the project. The financial support includes: Rs. 5 lakh for the construction of each new homestay unit, Rs. 3 lakh for renovation of existing structures and An additional Rs. 5 lakh allocated for overall village community development.

This holistic approach not only ensures better tourist facilities but also uplifts the socio-economic infrastructure of tribal villages.

The initiative is being coordinated through the District Administration of South Tripura with active involvement from the Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Tripura, and guidance from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.

Interested individuals and village communities are encouraged to contact the District Welfare Office, South Tripura, for submission guidelines and further information.

This initiative is also supported by digital governance platforms such as CMO Tripura, PMO India, MyGov Tripura, and MyGovIndia, ensuring transparency and community engagement at every level.

South Tripura is now set to become a model district for tribal tourism combining culture, sustainability, and economic empowerment under one innovative program.
