As promised in the run-up to the last assembly election a central school or Kendriya Vidyalaya was launched today for North Tripura district in the Bagbasa assembly constituency near Dharma Nagar town. To begin with there will be classes from I to class V. Altogether 143 students have already been admitted to the school while 57 more seats are still open to more admission as the student-teachers ratio will be 40:1 as per central rule. Already four regular teachers, one principal and three temporary teachers have been appointed for conducting classes.

The new KV has been launched in the premise of the students hostel of the Dharma Nagar degree college and it will continue here till a new construction is raised by the government. The inaugural programme marked by considerable mismanagement reflected in the lack of seating arrangement for guardians, media persons and stand-up waiting of the students , was noticed. However the programme was attended by the DM (north) Chandni Chandran, the MLA of Bagbasa Jadav Lal Debnath, ONGC representative Dharmendra Misra, the principal of the school Pranab Sarkar and leading social activist of the area Ranajay Deb. As usual the programme was inaugurated by the lighting of the holy lamp amidst grievances among attendees over mismanagement.

While addressing the gathering after ritual inauguration DM (north) Chandni Chandran expressed her joy over the opening of the school. “I have long been in contact with the MLA Jadav Lal Debnath and tried to ensure early opening of this school ; this has come about today and I am overjoyed” said Chandni Chandran. Similarly the MLA of Bagbasa Jadav Lal Debnath who was the key force behind the opening of the school said in his speech that he had been made a butt of jokes in the social media over his efforts to have the school here but added that he was happy today. “ My promises given before the last assembly election on construction of the college bridge , opening of central school and building of roads etc have already been fulfilled today but I promise to do much more in the remaining three years of my tenure as MLA” said Jadav Lal Debnath.
