People seething in anger over air crash deaths in Dhaka, GOI sends team of doctors and treatment aids

The boiling anger among students and guardians over the death of 32 guardians and students in the Milestone school and college in Dhaka on Monday in a crash of an Bangladesh airforce plane exploded today with a large number of students and their guardians encircling the advisor (law) Asif Nazrul, advisor (education) C.R.Abrar and press secretary Shafiqul Alam as they came out of the shattered collegiate school after a visit. Following the encirclement by protesting students and guardians the advisors went back to the conference hall of the institution and held a meeting with seven representatives of students and guardians around 10-00 in the forenoon yesterday.

In the course of discussion the students and guardians raised a six point charter of demands that include : 1) disclosure of full names and addresses of the deceased students and guardians, 2) grant of compensation to families of each deceased student, 3) retirement of all old and defective training planes of the air force and induction of new and modern planes , 4) reform of the training method and place of the airforce and introduction of security system and 5) tendering of unqualified apology to the teachers manhandled by the personnel of the air force.

Apart from this, there was another round of protest demonstration before the secretariat building in the afternoon yesterday and the protesting guardians and students demanded the resignation of advisor (education) C.R.Abrar Ahmed. Late in the night the interim government issued a notification postponing a number of exams. Facing mass anger over the crash of the airforce plane and death of 32 students and guardians the government last night removed the education secretary Siddique Jubair from his post. In addition a high power committee was also constituted to into the background of the air crash and the death toll of students in it . Finally the police had to be set upon the demonstrators in the secretariat to disperse them and tear gas shells had to be burst.

Meanwhile, a team of Indian doctors, all specialists in treating burn cases and healing and a few plastic surgeons flew in to Dhaka today to provide assistance to the ill-equipped and incompetent Bangladesh government and its health department in dealing with the crisis created by the airforce plane crash and toll of death and injury taken by it.
