TCA’s new initiative, launching under-18 cricket tournament from tomorrow

After long being torn by internal squabbling and power struggle the beleaguered Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) is taking a positive initiative to spot and nurture talent in the state. As part of this initiative the TCA authority is launching an under-18 boys cricket tournament for the first time from tomorrow,that is July 23.

Altogether fourteen cricket teams will take part in the tournament. Sources in the TCA said that the aim of the tournament is to spot and bring up talented cricketers at the junior level for nurturing them into accomplished senior players in future. The national under-19 tournament is scheduled to come off very soon and Tripura will participate in the tournament in which the players picked from the under-18 tournament beginning tomorrow are expected to perform well.

The players of all the teams and their directors were felicitated in the MBB stadium today . Speaking on the occasion Adhir Chowdhury, secretary of the local cricket playing club ‘Shatadal Sangha’ said that he is closely associated in the organization of the tournament and expected players of his own team as well as those of others to acquit themselves well. The tournament has also created interest among cricket fans, players and organizers.
