A significant meeting of the General Officers and Employees Welfare Society of Tripura was held today at the Agartala Press Club, where important discussions took place regarding the rights and ongoing struggles of general category employees across India. The key speaker at the event was M. Nagraj, a long-time engineer and fighter for the rights of general category employees.
Addressing the gathering, M. Nagraj emphasized that he has been fighting for the cause of general category employees since 1992. He pointed out that due to reservations and special quotas in jobs and promotions for Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Scheduled Castes (SC), general category employees are consistently deprived of opportunities despite their merit.
He further stated that although the Supreme Court has delivered several judgments aimed at resolving these imbalances, many state governments across the country have failed to implement those rulings properly. As a result, general category employees continue to suffer from systemic neglect and discrimination.
“The fight is not against any community, but for equal opportunity and justice as per the law of the land,” M. Nagraj said, asserting that his struggle for the rights of general category employees will continue until the issue is addressed fairly and constitutionally.
The event concluded with a call for wider awareness and legal implementation of the Supreme Court’s judgments to ensure justice for all deserving employees irrespective of their social category.
