West Tripura Police Constitutes Special Task Force to Identify and Deport Illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya Immigrants

In a significant move to address the rising concerns regarding the presence of illegal immigrants, the West Tripura District Police has formed a District Level Special Task Force (STF) aimed at identifying, detecting, and deporting Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingyas illegally residing or apprehended within the district.

As per the official order issued by Dr. Kiran Kumar K., IPS, Superintendent of Police, West Tripura, a 15-member task force has been constituted comprising senior officers and officers-in-charge (OCs) from various police stations across West Tripura. The team will specifically focus on individuals settled from Bangladesh and Myanmar (Rohingyas) who are living without legal authorization.

The task force has been directed to promptly verify the identity of suspected illegal immigrants. If found to be Bangladeshi nationals or Rohingyas, the team will ensure immediate biometric capture (fingerprints and facial photographs) and demographic data entry on the MHA Foreigners Identification Portal (https://identification.mha.gov.in).

Following the completion of biometric and demographic documentation, the illegal immigrants will be handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF) for deportation to their native countries. The DySP DIB West has been entrusted with overseeing the systematic collection and compilation of weekly, fortnightly, and monthly reports of STF activities.
