Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has once again issued a stern warning to those involved in the drug trade, asserting that the government possesses detailed information about every individual linked to the narcotics network in the state.

Speaking at a public awareness event held at Gandhigram Higher Secondary School ground, the Chief Minister said, “Some people, driven by greed for money, can stoop to any level, this is beyond imagination. We know exactly who is involved in this deadly trade. Shockingly, some of them are well-dressed, socially respected individuals who move freely in different circles, but secretly engage in the drug business.”

Expressing disappointment, Dr. Saha stated, “It is painful to see such people getting involved in drug trafficking. I am issuing a final warning, once the law catches up with you, no one will be able to save you.”

Highlighting the need for large-scale awareness about the horrors of drug addiction, the Chief Minister urged school teachers to dedicate at least ten minutes of class time every day to educate students about the dangers of drug abuse. He also appealed to parents to be vigilant about their children’s behavior to ensure they do not fall prey to this deadly addiction.

Dr. Saha emphasized that children and teenagers need special awareness efforts as many of them, especially in adolescence, fall into the trap of drugs out of curiosity. He remarked, “Only if our children are protected from addiction can we build a drug-free and healthy Tripura.”

Addressing other pressing social issues, the Chief Minister also pointed out the persistence of child marriage in certain sections of society. He stressed the importance of both students and parents becoming more conscious and active in fighting such deep-rooted social evils.

The event at Gandhigram was aimed at promoting awareness against drug abuse and child marriage, and the Chief Minister’s strong words have added urgency to the state’s ongoing campaign to eradicate these issues.
