The upcoming Agartala Civil Hospital is likely to be operational before Durga Puja, with authorities pushing to expedite the final phase of construction. A review meeting on the project was held at the Agartala Municipal Corporation office on Tuesday, chaired by Mayor Dipak Majumder and attended by senior officials including Health Secretary Kiran Gitte and Municipal Commissioner DK Chakma.

Describing the hospital as a major initiative under the guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, the Mayor said, “This hospital will significantly reduce the burden on existing healthcare facilities in the city. We’re doing everything possible to complete the work quickly and make it functional for patients.”

Officials familiar with the discussions confirmed that the government is keen to open the facility before the festive season. Although some civil work is still pending, the target is to wrap up construction within the next three months.

The hospital, in its first phase, will start as a 50-bedded facility with essential services and an Outpatient Department (OPD). Mayor Majumder said that efforts are on to ensure the hospital is ready for public use by November.

To ensure timely progress, a joint inspection by the Health Department and AMC officials has been scheduled for later this month. The visit will assess the remaining work and ensure quality standards are met ahead of the inauguration.
