Landmark Decision: Tripura Cabinet Approves Recruitment of 1,615 Teachers to Strengthen Secondary and Higher Secondary Education

In a major stride towards improving the education landscape of Tripura, the State Cabinet has approved the recruitment of 1,615 teachers, marking a transformative step for the state's secondary and higher secondary education system. This includes 915 Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) for Classes 11 and 12, and 700 Graduate Teachers (GT) for secondary-level classes.
The announcement was made following a high-level Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring quality education for every student in the state. This crucial decision aims to address the long-standing shortage of subject-wise qualified teachers and will play a significant role in improving classroom education and student outcomes across Tripura.

PGT (Bengali): 50, PGT (History): 71, PGT (Political Science): 65, PGT (Philosophy): 06, PGT (Geography): 80, PGT (Kokborok): 75, PGT (Sanskrit): 20, PGT (Economics): 55, PGT (Physics): 80, PGT (Chemistry): 59, PGT (Biology): 45, PGT (Mathematics): 50. PGT (Commerce): 33, PGT (Sociology): 70, PGT (Psychology): 86. Total PGT Posts: 915.
In addition to this, the Cabinet also approved 700 Graduate Teacher (GT) posts, which will be filled to bolster secondary-level teaching positions across government schools in the state.
This combined recruitment drive is expected to improve the pupil-teacher ratio as per national standards and Strengthen core academic disciplines, especially in science, humanities, and languages.
This landmark initiative reflects the state government's vision for a stronger and more inclusive education system, ensuring that students of Tripura receive better academic guidance and holistic development opportunities.
The recruitment process will be conducted as per government norms through appropriate authorities such as the Teachers’ Recruitment Board, Tripura (TRBT), ensuring transparency and merit-based selection.
