'No Money, No Contract', Congress Leader Birajit Sinha Accuses Tripura Government of Corruption; BJP and Administration Silent Even After Two Days

Former minister and current Congress MLA Birajit Sinha has leveled serious corruption allegations against the Tripura government, claiming that contractors are being forced to pay bribes to ministers in order to secure government contracts. Speaking at a public event in Kailashahar on July 12, Sinha alleged, “Unless you pay money to ministers, you won’t get any contracts in Tripura.”

Sinha accused the ruling BJP of fostering a deeply corrupt political environment, stating that corruption has reached extreme levels in the state. He declared, “In today’s Tripura, if you want a contract, you must pay the minister. Otherwise, you won’t get it. Loot in the name of politics has become the norm.”

The Congress leader’s explosive statements directly challenge the BJP government's claims of transparency. He further added, “Those who are with BJP today may join Congress tomorrow. That’s the beauty of democracy. No one is a permanent friend or foe.”

Criticizing the BJP’s promises in the 2018 elections, Sinha said, “People are now disillusioned. There are no jobs, no development, only political monopoly and a culture of corruption.”

Despite the seriousness of the allegations, neither the state administration nor the ruling BJP has responded, even two days after the speech. This silence has sparked debates in political and civil circles, with many asking whether there will be any investigation or if the allegations will simply be brushed off as political rhetoric.

The event saw attendance from local Congress leaders, Youth Congress activists, and the general public. Concluding his speech, Sinha urged citizens to “bring change from the grassroots level by restoring faith in a corruption-free democracy.”

With this strong message, Congress has signaled its intent to emerge as a major force in Tripura’s shifting political landscape.
