MBB Airport Tops NE in Customer Satisfaction Survey

The Airport Advisory Committee (AAC) meeting was convened at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport on Saturday under the leadership of West Tripura MP Biplab Kumar Deb. Key officials gathered to assess aviation progress and plan for future service upgrades.

Airport Director K.C. Meena shared that MBB Airport achieved an impressive 4.77 out of 5 score in the 2025 Round 1 Customer Satisfaction Survey (CSS), ranking 15th among 62 airports in India and securing the top spot in the Northeast.

Participants included West Tripura DM Dr. Vishal Kumar, Municipal Commissioner D.K. Chama, SP Dr. Kiran Kumar, former MLA Krishna Dhan Das, and industry representatives such as Ratan Debnath (Longtharai Industries), Sanjib Acharjee (Niljyoti Travels), and Prikshit Dey (Hindustan Tour and Travel). Officials from AAI, CISF, airlines, and ground handling teams also attended.

A significant development discussed was the operationalisation of the Inline Baggage Handling System (ILHBS) in March 2025, enhancing baggage screening and passenger movement. Plans were also unveiled for a new Child Care Room in partnership with Himalaya, aimed at providing a secure and hygienic space for mothers and infants.

The committee further reviewed progress on the Kailashahar Airport project in Unakoti district, seen as vital for boosting regional air connectivity and economic growth.

Members praised AAI and MBB Airport staff for consistent efforts in infrastructure and service improvements, while underlining the need for continued coordination among stakeholders to sustain Tripura’s aviation momentum.
