Fresh waves of political drama have begun sweeping through Tripura after senior TIPRA Motha leader and MLA Ranjit Debbarma made a surprising declaration that the party is ready to withdraw support from the BJP-led state government. Speaking at a press conference, Ranjit cited dissatisfaction over unfulfilled commitments and lack of progress on key issues concerning the indigenous people of the state. The announcement has triggered internal discord within the TIPRA Motha camp. Notably, the party’s founder, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, expressed complete surprise over Ranjit's statement. “I have no idea about any such press conference,” Pradyot told the media at Kharchi festival promises in Khairpur, clarifying that he had spoken recently with Amit Shah and Amit Shah assured he will do the needful soon. Today also Pradyot talk to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who assured him that Union Home Minister Amit Shah would soon be informed about their concerns.Amid this confusion, a closed-door meeting took place at the royal palace, where Pradyot Kishore was seen in conversation with Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy and BJP MP Kriti Singh Debbarma. While no official details were released, political analysts have termed the meeting "crucial" against the backdrop of Ranjit’s explosive announcement.Adding further intrigue, Ranjit Debbarma also claimed that BJP MP Kriti Singh Debbarma is prepared to pull out of the alliance, an assertion that has not been corroborated officially. His remarks are being viewed by many as a prelude to political realignments ahead of the upcoming TTAADC local body elections.
Reacting sharply, former Chief Minister and BJP leader Biplab Kumar Deb dismissed Ranjit’s authority to decide on alliances. “He is not the supreme leader of TIPRA Motha and should refrain from making such sensitive announcements in public,” Biplab said, hinting that Ranjit may have overstepped his limits.
As speculation intensifies, all eyes are now on the scheduled meeting between TIPRA Motha leaders and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi to be held end of this month. The party’s final stand on its alliance with the BJP is expected to emerge after those discussions, but for now, Tripura's political landscape remains on edge.
