Muslims in Matabari area desecrate ‘Shitla’ temple , break idol of the Hindu deity, tension tackled by police from Udaipur

True to their tradition and history, a section of fundamentalist Muslims in Tatuatilla area of Matabari assembly constituency in Udaipur subdivision have acted upon their ingrained hostility to other religious faiths . This is an inalienable part of their ‘belligerent righteousness’-a hallmark of fundamentalism-to all practitioners of other faiths, mostly the Hindus.

This propensity of the ‘Jahil’ and fundamentalist Muslims have come to the fore in Tatuatilla area under Matabari assembly constituency in Udaipur subdivision today. Sources from Udaipur said that there is temple dedicated to Hindu goddess ‘Mata Shitla’ in Tatuatilla area where the Hindu devotees prepared to hold a ritual ‘Puja’ of the deity today. The Muslims of the area including a number of illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators protested the holding of ‘Puja’ on the ground that it would conflict in timing with their ‘Aazan’ from mosques. There was tension in the area over this objection as the Hindus were peeved with the interference of the sectarian Muslims in their religious practice.

But the matter took a turn for the worse this morning as the local Hindus discovered to their horror that the temple of Goddess ‘Shitla’ had been desecrated and the idol of the Goddess had been broken. Realising that local communal Muslims have committed this mischief the Hindus prepared to confront the Muslim miscreants. After being informed of the spiraling tension in the area a combined force of police and TSR jawans led by additional SP (Gomati) Hrishikesh Sethia and SDPO Nirman Nirman Das rushed to the spot and quelled the tension . The additional SP and SDPO arranged to have the broken idol of Goddess ‘Shitla’ immersed in the Gomati river and warned the people against any mischief while deploying a force .

Sources from Udaipur said that a number of illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators have started living in the Tatuatilla area but the administration and police have taken no action against them. The local people have raised the demand that the infiltrators be identified and deported back to Bangladesh without any further delay in the interest of communal harmony and amity in the entire area.
