Law and order takes turn for the worse over negotiation business, posh apartment attacked by mafia, firing from revolver

The fragile law and order situation in Tripura seems to be taking a turn for the worse with a gang of negotiation mafia owing allegiance to a female leader of the ruling party having stormed a posh residential apartment on Monday night to kill a group of rivals . The incident took place in the ground floor of the ‘Pratiksha’ apartment close to the old Raj Bhawan in the office of leading businessman Uttam Saha.

Police sources said that businessman Uttam Saha had been chatting with his friends and associates in his office room in the ground floor of the Pratiksha apartment on Monday evening. Around 9-00 PM a gang of miscreants owing allegiance to a female leader of ruling BJP barged into Saha’s office room with helments on head and hand-kerchieves around face to conceal identity and tried to hit Uttam Saha and his friends Manik Chowdhury, Jibon Roy, Haradhan Chowdhury alias Haru, Billal Hossain and Panchu. The miscreants ransacked the whole office room , brandishing revolver in their hands and fired two shots besides snatching mobile sets of Jibon and Haradhan and also the golden chain from around the neck of the latter.

It was only yesterday morning that Uttam Saha filed a FIR with the NCC police station and named Alak, Swastik, Shibram and Gautam Sarkar of Indra Nagar burial ground area as the attackers. It was alleged in the FIR that miscreant Shibram had struck on Uttam Saha’s head with a sharp cutting matchet and injured him. The police visited the ‘Pratiksha’ apartment and the ransacked office of Uttam Saha on Monday night itself but are yet to arrest any one of the attackers.

Sources aware of why the attack had been launched said that the group led by BJP’s female leader Papiya Datta controls the negotiation of all tendered contract works of RD office in Gorkha Basti, AGMC works and New Capital Complex areas . But recently businessman Uttam Saha who controls the tendered works of the department of water resources in Malancha Niwas has emerged as a rival to Papiya’s group and that is why Papiya’s acolytes launched the attack on Uttam Saha’s office.
