The CPI (M) party office in Gandacherra town was vandalised last night in a totally unprovoked manner. Sources from Gandacherra said that at midnight last night a gang of BJP miscreants operating in the area swooped on the closed party office and totally vandalised it by breaking and throwing all furnitures outside . The doors of the party office that had been fitted in the month of April only were also broken and hurled outside. Sources said that the BJP miscreants would have set the party office on fire also but the fear of conflagration spreading to other structures nearby had dissuaded them.
The local CPI (M) leaders of Gandacherra including former MLA Lalit Tripura visited the ransacked party office this morning and held the BJP miscreants of the area responsible for this. They filed a complaint with the Gandacherra police station and demanded that the arsonists be arrested soon and punished. In Agartala the CPI (M) sources said that over the past seven years of BJP’s misrule the Gandacherra party office has been burnt and vandalised four times including the latest one last night. Condemning the political violence unleashed by the BJP all over the state , the CPI (M) sources said that the state government should take drastic action against such acts of ‘goonery’ by the miscreants of BJP. Many other party offices and statues of top leaders have also been vandalised and broken by the BJP miscreants over the past seven years, sources added.
