CM Dr. Manik Saha Holds High-Level Meeting on Deteriorating NH Conditions in Tripura; Urges NHIDCL to Speed Up Repairs

Amid widespread public concern over the deteriorating condition of all National Highways in Tripura, including the crucial Assam to Agartala route via Khowai and Kamalpur, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha convened a high-level meeting with top officials of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).

The meeting was held to review the poor state of key highway stretches, particularly the Khowai–Kamalpur section of NH-208 and the Churaibari–Panisagar stretch of NH-08, which have been severely damaged and are causing serious disruption to transportation and public movement.

Following the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Saha posted an update on his official social media platforms stating:

“Reviewed the ongoing works of National Highways in Tripura with the officials of NHIDCL, Shri Amarendra Kumar (Director - Technical), Shri Trivendra Kumar (Executive Director - Technical), Shri Ajay Bishnoi (Executive Director - Projects), and others today. Instructed NHIDCL officials to expedite the repair and maintenance works of Khowai-Kamalpur section of NH-208, and Churaibari-Panisagar section of NH-08 which are severely damaged.”

During the review meeting, NHIDCL officials gave a detailed presentation on various ongoing and proposed projects, including the Agartala Western Bypass, 4-laning of the Churaibari-Sabroom stretch of NH-08, Agartala Eastern Bypass, and the proposed development of the Udaipur-Amarpur section as a spur of NH-08.

The Chief Minister emphasized the urgent need for improving the road infrastructure in the state, particularly ahead of the upcoming monsoon season, and directed the concerned agencies to complete critical repair work without further delay.
