The BJP’s political strength is fast waning in Tripura and there is massive erosion in its support base, the day is not far off when voters will throw the party out of power. The people of the state will not put up with the repression unleashed by BJP and having realized this the workers and supporters of the party are frustrated . Making this observation in an interaction with the media former chief minister and CPI (M) politburo member Manik Sarkar said that people of the state are fast losing patience over the anti-people policies of the BJP government and soon they will rise in revolt.
Sarkar was speaking to media after visiting the residence of Badal Das, CPI (M) supporter in Ananga Nagar near Narsingarh yesterday. The residence of Badal Das had been vandalised by a gang of BJP miscreants who had also demolished the boundary wall of the house . Sarkar was accompanied by senior party leaders , former MP Sankar Prasad Datta and former MLA Ratan Das. Manik said that the BJP miscreants had made every effort to stop the conference of ‘Kshet Mazoor Union’ (agricultural labourers union), a front organization of the CPI (M) and tried to wreak vengeance by vandalizing the residence of local leader Badal Das. He also spoke to the family members of Badal Das and local villagers on the issue.
Manik said that the BJP miscreants had switched off lights in a number of houses in the area and vandalised the residence of Badal Das but when people started coming out to resist them they fled the area. The residence of Badal Das had been targeted by the BJP miscreants because it was in his house that the conference of local committee of ‘Kshet Mazoor Union’ of Narsingarh had been held amidst presence of a large number of delegates and , enraged by this, his house had been targeted. “The way people came out on the night of the attack clearly shows that the spirit of resistance among people against the politics of violence of BJP is growing ; it will further intensify leading to the ouster of the BJP led state government” said Manik.
