In a strongly worded letter addressed to the Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura, Ranjit Debbarma, Member of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, has called for urgent and stringent action against illegal migrants from Bangladesh, along with their Indian collaborators including unfit bailors (zamindars), dishonest advocates, and brokers.

The letter, sent by the Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma from MLA Hostel in Agartala, highlights the issue of Bangladeshi nationals who were arrested by police but later granted bail. Many of them have since absconded, reportedly either returning to Bangladesh or hiding within India using false identities. Debbarma expressed serious concern that these individuals, aided by certain advocates and bailors, are deliberately avoiding court proceedings.

He also noted a growing trend of illegal migrants assuming false identities, including religious identities, to stay undetected in India. The letter accuses some Indian brokers of fabricating documents to support these migrants, with the police allegedly showing inaction despite clear evidence of forged paperwork.

Referring to a specific case involving one Kajal Sarker of Mohanpur, identified as an Indian broker, Debbarma cited ongoing legal proceedings under various sections of the Indian new criminal Penal Code and Passport Act.

The MLA has formally requested the High Court to ensure a custody trial for the arrested illegal migrants and an immediate pushback order after sentencing. He also urged the Court to initiate strong punitive action against the involved Indian collaborators to safeguard national security and uphold the sovereignty of both Tripura and India.
