The problem of contingent, DRW and other categories of employees in the state administration has been growing sharper by the day as there is no scope for their regularization in service even after working for ten or more years as per a revised government policy. In a bid to have their problems resolved an organization under the banner of ‘Tripura Aniyamita Karmachari Mancha’ has addressed a letter to the chief secretary J.K.Sinha through the DM (west) seeking regularization of their service.

The memorandum has pointed out that during the previous left front rule the state government had enunciated a policy whereby all irregular employees engaged with prior approval of the finance department would be regularized in service after a ten year period . This policy notified in 2003 was later revised to include all categories of employees, irrespective of approval from finance, for regularization . But the BJP government revised that policy further on July 31 2028 to pause the process of regularization of irregular employees. It was stated in the BJP government’s cabinet decision that transparency would be brought in the process but over the past so many years not a single irregular employee has been regularized in service.

The memorandum has appealed to the chief secretary to look into the matter as there are 40 thousand irregular employees in the administration. Despite putting in regular service all the irregular employees are being exploited and discriminated against through disparities in pay structure compared with regular employees.
