The Chief Monk of ISKCON Tripura, Premadatta Das, on Wednesday dismissed all allegations against Prabhu Karuneshwar Madhav Das, head of the Jagannath Jiu Temple in Baikhora, calling them baseless and motivated.
Addressing the controversy during a visit to the temple, Premadatta Das claimed that a local youth, Kritimoy Aslong, had launched a social media campaign to malign the image of Karuneshwar Madhav Das—popularly known as Kartik Prabhu. The posts accused the monk of fund misappropriation and questioned his affiliation with ISKCON, even prompting media advertisements denying ISKCON’s links to the temple.
“These claims are fabricated. The advertisement was not issued by ISKCON but manipulated by vested interests,” Premadatta Das clarified.
He further praised Karuneshwar Madhav Das for his role in reviving the previously neglected temple. “His efforts have transformed the Jagannath Jiu Temple into a significant spiritual hub. The annual Rath Yatra here is now the second most prominent in Tripura,” he added.
The temple is currently undergoing renovation under Karuneshwar’s leadership. ISKCON insiders suggest the smear campaign is an attempt to disrupt the temple's development ahead of the Rath Yatra.
