In a strongly worded Facebook post yesterday, former Tripura BJP state president Ranajay Deb has openly criticized the current functioning of the BJP in the state, alleging widespread violations of party norms, arbitrary appointments, and concentration of power within a few individuals.
Ranajay Deb expressed disappointment over the neglect of the party’s long-standing principle of "One Person, One Post," stating that this guideline is no longer being followed, from the central leadership down to the Mandal (block) level, despite the party having no shortage of capable workers.
He accused the leadership of allowing certain individuals to hold multiple key posts simultaneously, with one person allegedly occupying as many as four important positions, as though there were no other eligible leaders in the state.
Deb also alleged that several appointments are being made without following the party's internal processes. "Individuals with no prior organizational role are being suddenly appointed as Mandal presidents or general secretaries, bypassing party rules and eligibility requirements," he wrote.
He further criticized the rising trend of elected representatives interfering in organizational matters, saying they are sidelining actual party workers to create their own parallel organizational structures. "This directly violates the core principles of the BJP," Deb asserted.
Referring to the recent appointment of only the state president without electing the full committee, he questioned the legality of the move. “Where is this written in the party constitution? When was the constitution changed?” he asked.
Highlighting that both national and state presidents have exceeded their constitutional term limits, Deb claimed that technically there is no valid president in place at either level, as the party constitution does not allow indefinite extensions.
Drawing a historical reference, he reminded the party of Winston Churchill’s defeat in the UK elections after winning World War II, warning that electoral victories do not guarantee continued public support. “People gave the BJP a warning in the 2023 Tripura elections and again in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls — yet the party refuses to take it seriously,” Deb said.
He ended his post by urging party workers and leaders to consult the official BJP website (bjp.org) to verify the validity of his claims and called upon the organization to restore internal democracy, respect party rules, and stop sidelining genuine workers.
Ranajay Deb’s statement has stirred significant political discussion, reflecting growing discontent within sections of the BJP in Tripura.
