Tripura Govt Set to Sign Over Half a Dozen Collaborations with Patanjali to Boost Socio-Economic Growth

In a major move aimed at transforming Tripura’s socio-economic landscape, the state government is poised to sign more than half a dozen exciting collaborations with Patanjali. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha held an important meeting today with Dr. Acharya Balkrishna, Secretary General of Patanjali Yogpeeth, and his team at the State Secretariat to discuss the roadmap for future partnerships.

The proposed collaborations span across key sectors such as yoga, spiritual tourism, wellness, biodiversity conservation, education, and agriculture-based industries. These partnerships are expected to significantly boost employment opportunities, health awareness, and holistic development across the state.

Senior IAS officers including Secretary to the Chief Minister Pradip Chakraborty, Secretary of Industries Kiran Gitte, and several other high-ranking officials from the departments of agriculture, horticulture, and industries were present during the discussion.

According to officials, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will soon be signed between the Tripura Government and Patanjali, marking a new era of cooperation to unlock Tripura’s untapped potential in natural resources, wellness tourism, and education.

Sources said a massive push for Oil Palm Cultivation through is also planed by Patanjali in Tripura.

In a parallel development, a Mega Oil Palm Plantation Programme was successfully held today at the Garjee Sector under Gomati District, reinforcing the government’s commitment to agricultural innovation. The initiative was conducted on the 5-hectare cultivable land of Smt. Thanda Devi Jamatia, a progressive farmer who recently transitioned from lemon to oil palm cultivation.

The event was attended by state Finance Minister Shri Pranajit Singh Roy, along with Matabari MLA Shri Abhishek Deb Roy and Kakraban MLA Shri Jitendra Majumder. Also present were Director of Agriculture Shri Phani Bhusan Jamatia, Deputy Director (Gomati) Shri Bijan Das, State Head of Patanjali Shri Ayan Sarkar, Superintendent of Agriculture Shri Ajay Debbarma, and other government officials, social workers, and community leaders.

The programme commenced with ceremonial watering of oil palm saplings by the dignitaries, symbolizing a new chapter in sustainable farming. Shri Ayan Sarkar briefed the gathering about Patanjali’s strategic role and future roadmap for oil palm expansion in Tripura under the National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) scheme.

In his motivational address, Finance Minister Pranajit Singh Roy encouraged local farmers to adopt oil palm cultivation, assuring them of full support from the government through training, financial assistance, and market linkage.

The dignitaries also visited the plantation site and interacted with Smt. Thanda Devi Jamatia, who shared her success story and praised the scheme’s potential to uplift rural livelihoods.

The event saw an enthusiastic turnout of around 150–170 attendees, many of whom showed keen interest in embracing oil palm farming in the current planting season. The programme concluded smoothly, receiving positive feedback from both officials and local participants.

With these developments, Tripura is moving decisively towards agricultural self-reliance and integrated socio-economic growth with strategic support from Patanjali.
