Tripura DGP Anurag Dhankar: 10% Decline in Crime Rate This Year, Zero Tolerance Against Drugs and Crimes on Women & Children

During his official visit to South Tripura district today, the newly appointed Director General of Police (DGP), Tripura, Anurag Dhankar, announced that the overall crime rate in the state has already decreased by 10% compared to the previous year. He credited the continued efforts of Tripura Police in alignment with the vision of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to ensure law and order across the state.
Speaking with media at the South District Superintendent of Police's office in Belonia, DGP Dhankar reiterated the government's commitment towards strict action against drug trafficking and declared zero tolerance for crimes against women and children.
“Police must act firmly against all forms of crime and corruption. Criminals will not be spared, and no compromise will be tolerated,” said DGP Dhankar during his interaction with the media. He warned drug peddlers and stressed that the police force will continue its aggressive drive against narcotics.
Upon his arrival at the SP Office, DGP Dhankar was warmly welcomed by South District SP IPS Maria Krishna C, who felicitated him with a flower bouquet and a traditional scarf. Additional SP Suman Bhattacharya was also present.
As a goodwill gesture, the DGP, along with district police officials, returned 20 stolen and lost mobile phones to their rightful owners, recovered through recent police operations. Later, DGP Dhankar held a high-level meeting with Officers-in-Charge and police officials from various police stations of the district.
During the meeting, he instructed officers to ensure thorough investigation of all crime-related cases, identify culprits, and ensure justice. He also emphasized strengthening public trust in the police force through transparent and committed policing.
The visit marked a significant message from the state police leadership—Tripura is on a determined path toward a safer and more secure society.
