Bangladesh has already turned into a ‘terrorist and communalized state’ under the illegitimate dispensation of Dr Yunus and his so-called advisors and no body is safe there. The minuscule minority of progressive Muslims have either left the country or gone into hiding for fear of lives and ‘about the Hindu and Buddhist minorities, the less said the better’. Making this assertion in an interaction with the media in Agartala Press Club, Pushpita Gupta, the president of the Global Bangla Hindu Alliance and British Labour Party councillor for London Borough, Red Bridge, said that the persecution of Hindus under the interim government has crossed all limits. “There is practically none in the civil , police or military administration to speak for or protest against the persecuted Hindus ; rape and kidnapping of women, murder and assault and displacement of Hindus from their traditional habitats and business centres are the orders of the day” said Pushpita who addressed the media, accompanied by another leader of the Global Bangla Hindu Alliance Sushanta Das.
Pushpita and Sushanta belong to a group of Hindu leaders who landed in India from divergent countries like USA, Canada and England to take up cudgels on behalf of persecuted Hindus of Bangladesh and interacted with media in Delhi and Calcutta already before landing on Agartala. She is also a leading human rights activist of England. She said that , apart from attacks on homes and religious places and forcing Hindu teachers and employees out from services, the unconstitutional interim government has seized the right to freedom of expression of people. “Any one who protests the misrule of the government is being arrested and that is why no body says anything against the persecution of Hindu and Buddhist minorities even though many sane Muslims feel that what is happening is wrong” said Pushpita and Sushanta.
She asserted that she has no faith in Md Yunus who has been a lifelong opportunist and power-crazed man and referred to the arrest of Chinmay Prabhu on a fake charge and his conspiratorial confinement in jail. “What is most painful is that the country originally was a Hindu country but the logic of number now is tilted against Hindus ; even during liberation struggle of 1971 the Hindus made great sacrifices and struggled ; I myself am a daughter of a liberation warrior but this is neither recognized nor accepted; the communal and fundamentalist elements have taken over the entire country” said Pushpita.
She and Sushanta raised a five point charter of demands for security of Hindus in Bangladesh. The demands include , 1) deployment of peace keeping force of the UNO, 2) drone monitoring in minority-inhabited areas, 3) rehabilitation of displaced Hindus , 4) restoration of lost jobs of Hindus and 5) protection of Hindu religious places from attacks by criminals and fundamentalists.
