The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) today paid homage to the memory of former party stalwart and chief minister (1988-1992) Sudhir Ranjan Majumder in a programme at Congress Bhawan. A portrait of Majumder had been put up in front of the Congress Bhawan and the incumbent PCC president Asish Kumar Saha garlanded, followed by other prominent leaders , and paid floral tributes.
Addressing the party leaders and workers who had gathered on the occasion Asish Saha recalled the contribution made by Sudhir Ranjan Majumder to the party. “Our respected Sudhirda had been a general secretary of the party, an MLA and had laid the foundation for the Congress-TUJS victory in the 1988 assembly election ; his four year tenure as chief minister was also remarkable as the Congress-TUJS coalition government had given lot of jobs to the unemployed youths ; his most seminal contribution was in raising the pay and allowances of the government employees up to a remarkable level and it is no exaggeration to say that the employees and officers of state cadre services today draw a decent salary and benefits-thanks to the bold decision of coalition government headed by Sudhir Ranjan Majumder” said Asish.
He also asserted that Sudhir Ranjan Majumder’s place in Tripura’s history will be permanent . A few leaders of the party also addressed the small gathering and spoke briefly paying respect to Sudhir Ranjan Majumder.
