The Udaipur Press Club has issued a strong condemnation against the TIPRA Motha party and its youth wing, the YTF (Youth Tipra Federation), demanding an unconditional apology over what it termed as undemocratic and disrespectful conduct during a official press conference.
The controversy arose from a press meeting held on May 25, 2025, wherein TIPRA Motha representatives including YTF members, making forceful demands that all journalists present refer to Pradyot as “Maharaja.”
The Udaipur Press Club, in its official statement, today criticized the demand as unconstitutional and undemocratic, emphasizing that in a democratic republic like India, no one holds the title of Raja or Maharaja in any official capacity.
The situation further escalated when journalists covering the meeting were allegedly asked to turn off their cameras.
“The conduct of YTF leaders and their supporters, particularly the coercive behavior of YTF Gomati districts President Devid Murashing violated the dignity of both the press and the democratic framework,” said Jasim Uddin, Secretary of the Udaipur Press Club. He said that the journalists were officially invited to cover the meeting, and any attempt to interfere with media coverage is unacceptable in a democratic society.”
The statement also alleges that several aides of the TIPRA Motha chairman acted in an intimidating manner towards journalists, further aggravating tensions.
The Udaipur Press Club has called on TIPRA Motha to publicly apologize without conditions for the issue.
