In a significant reshuffle aimed at strengthening police operations and disrupting the drug network in Tripura, the newly appointed Director General of Police (DGP), Shri Anurag Dhankar, has ordered the transfer of 29 police personnel, including Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, and Constables, across various districts of the state.
The decision came a day after Shri Dhankar concluded his thired phases of review visits to half of the police districts. The transfer list, issued from Police Headquarters in Agartala, indicates a strategic redeployment shifting personnel from drug-affected zones to relatively calm and less sensitive areas.
Most of the transferred officers have been posted from one district to another, particularly moving out from high drug-trafficking pockets such as Sepahijala, Dhalai, and West Tripura. The reshuffle includes postings to places like Anandabazar, Vanghmun, and Karbook, which have reported lower levels of narcotics-related activities.
Senior police officials stated that the transfers aim to "break local level familiarity and routine patterns that often get compromised in sensitive areas." The move is also seen as part of a larger effort to curb drug trafficking, enhance law enforcement, and ensure fair policing.
The order, signed by Assistant Inspector General of Police (Establishment) Shri Sudip Kumar Pal on behalf of the DGP, took immediate effect.
This is one of the first major operational directives from DGP Anurag Dhankar since taking charge, reflecting his proactive approach in tackling Tripura's growing drug menace.
