Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha today reacted to a recent incident involving Gomati District Magistrate T.K. Chakma, IAS, and Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, the Founder of Tipra Motha, stating that such situations should not occur in a democratic setup. Addressing the media in Agartala, Dr. Saha emphasized that government officials must remain accessible and respectful to the people.

The controversy emerged after Pradyot Kishore reportedly sought a meeting with the Gomati DM last Sunday late evening at the DM’s official residence. However, the request was allegedly denied by the DM, prompting concerns over administrative conduct.

“Pradyot Kishore personally informed me about the incident. At that time, I was in Delhi,” said the Chief Minister. “After hearing his account, I directed the Chief Secretary to submit a detailed report on the matter.”

Dr. Saha reiterated, “Such situations should not occur. Once the report is submitted, we will have clarity on what exactly happened that day.”

The Chief Minister further remarked, “In governance, it is essential to ensure that no individual or party feels disrespected. Everyone must act with a sense of responsibility and uphold mutual dignity.”

His comments highlight a growing concern about the responsiveness of administrative officials and the importance of respectful communication between bureaucrats, public representatives, and citizens. The Chief Minister confirmed that the state government is awaiting the Chief Secretary’s report before deciding on any further steps.
