A delegation of Tipra Motha leaders met Tripura Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha on Tuesday, demanding disciplinary action against Gomati District Magistrate Tarit Kanti Chakma. The delegation submitted a memorandum jointly signed by TTAADC Chief Executive Member Purna Chandra Jamatia and Minister of State Brishaketu Debbarma.

The complaint centres around an incident on May 25, when the DM allegedly refused to meet CEM Jamatia and Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarman despite repeated efforts. The leaders said that over 20 phone calls from Pradyot and several from the CEM were ignored and eventually blocked.

According to the memorandum, the meeting was intended to address key district issues, including lapses in MGNREGA scheme implementation, irregularities in CM Rubber Mission beneficiary selection, and failure to construct forest check dams.

Describing the DM's conduct as "unacceptable" and "disrespectful", the leaders accused him of undermining democratic norms and avoiding accountability. They urged the Chief Secretary to initiate an inquiry, take appropriate disciplinary action, and replace the DM with an officer who upholds constitutional responsibilities.
