Tripura Police Nab Assam Man for Alleged Rape of Minor

A 40-year-old man from Assam, identified as Bakul Bura, was apprehended by Tripura police on Sunday night for the alleged abduction and rape of a 14-year-old girl. The incident reportedly occurred in an area under Bishramganj police station in Sepahijala district.

Following a complaint filed by the victim’s family on May 25, a police team, headed by Officer-in-Charge Subimal Debnath, swiftly arrested Bura, a resident of Golaghat, Assam. He was presented before the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Court on Monday for legal proceedings.

The case, registered as No. 11/2025, includes charges under Sections 65(1) and 87 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 4 of the POCSO Act, reflecting the severity of the alleged crime.
