Attempted suicide in GBP hospital, wife injured by matchet-wielding husband

There was an attempted suicide by a married woman in the GBP hospital this morning but the woman survived and is battling for life now . Sources from GBP hospital said that Champa Rishidas (28) had been admitted to the medicine ward of the hospital early this week with ailment in her abdomen. She had been married to Arup Moni Das of Khowai last year but their conjugal relation deteriorated soon and Anup Moni used to beat up Champa on a regular basis. She had been admitted to the GBP hospital upon reference from Khowai hospital following a suspected round of beating by her husband. Sources said that this morning Champa had left her bed in the female medicine ward and jumped down from the 2nd floor of the hospital building to commit suicide . But people nearby saw this and shifted her to the emergency where she was diagnosed as having fractured her knee bone. Champa is still in hospital in critical condition.

Apart from this, in another bizarre incident another drunken husband Krishna Gopal Sarkar today attacked his wife Maya , father in law Ramu Rudrapaul and a neighbour Nimai Rudrapaul in inebriated condition for unknown reasons. All three sustained serious injuries after being struck by a sharp cutting weapon and are in GBP hospital undergoing treatment. The attacker Krishna Gopal Sarkar has been arrested by police. The incident happened in Machhmara Krishna tilla area under Pecharthal police station of north Tripura.
