In a significant move to address growing security concerns, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, has directed all airports across the country to implement heightened security protocols with immediate effect.
Quoting an official press statement issued Thursday, the Ministry stated, “Enhanced security is the need of the hour. The safety of passengers and aviation infrastructure remains our top priority.”
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has outlined a series of urgent measures, including:
Mandatory secondary security screening for all passengers prior to boarding
Restricted terminal access strictly to ticketed passengers
Round-the-clock CCTV surveillance at all airports
Increased deployment of air marshals on both domestic and international flights
Tighter entry-point controls, including vehicle checks and random baggage screenings
The statement further added, “These measures have been put in place as a preventive step amid elevated threat levels. We request cooperation from all stakeholders, especially travelers, to ensure smooth and secure operations.”
Officials confirmed that the directive applies uniformly across all commercial airports and will be monitored continuously. Passengers are advised to arrive well in advance and follow all updated protocols as part of the nationwide security upgrade.
