Mysterious disappearance of police constable, big haul of ‘Ganja’ recovered in Jatrapur police station area

In a mysterious incident a police constable named Abhijit Paul disappeared after coming to office in Kailasahar town. Police sources said that Abhijit Paul had been posted in the SDPO office of Kailasahar and had duly come to office on Tuesday last . But he did not return home that day and his concerned wife first looked for him in the SDPO office and then registered a FIR with the Kailasahar police station . He is however yet to be traced.
Meanwhile, police personnel of Jatrapur police station recovered a big haul of 63 kgs of dry ‘Ganja’ (cannabis) from a vehicle numbered TR07A-0702. Giving details the officer in charge of Jatrapur police station Subrata Debnath said that the vehicle had been coming from Sonamura but in stead of going by the Jatrapur area it headed for Bhawanipur. A police patrol party in Nidaya Bazar had caught sight of the vehicle and pursued it . Even though the patrol vehicle had signalled the vehicle to stop it took sharp turn and headed for Manoatilla area.
The police party headed by sub-inspectors Shubhankar Saha, Amar Kishore Debbarma and TSR jawans gave the ‘Ganja’ carrying vehicle a hot chase and finally overtook it. After stopping the vehicle the police party searched it and found a stock of 62 kgs of dry ‘Ganja’ that costs several lakhs of rupees in the black market. The OC Subrata Debnath said that the drive against ‘Ganja’ and drugs has been continuing and will be carried on .
