Lok Adalat to sit for second session of the year from high court down to subdivisional courts

The second session of the statewide Lok Adalat will sit for hearing cases and dispute resolution on May 10, Saturday from high court down to subdivisional court premises. A statement issued to the media by the state legal service authority said that altogether 21,410 cases will come up for hearing in as many as 40 benches all over the state.
Regarding the cases to be heard in the Lok Adalat benches the statement said that 339 cases of accident and compensation claims , 221 marital dispute cases, 5457 bank repayment cases, 1000 BSNL bill payment cases, 14,264 cases of arbitrable criminal cases (MB Act, TP Act, TG Act and Excise act) , 63 cheque bounce (NI Act) cases, 9 consumer cases, 48 electricity bill cases and 8 service matter cases will come up for hearing in the Lok Adalat benches.
The statement said that both the contending parties in the cases have already been noticed and the parties have been taking the benefit of pre-conciliation by contacting the district and subdivisional legal service authorities. The designated ‘Adhikar Mitras’ will help all the litigants will come to the Lok Adalat benches in connection with cases. Besides, Justice (retired) Amarnath Gour has directed all concerned with the Lok Adalat to help in the process of case disposal while the member-secretary of the state legal service authority Jhuma Datta-Chowdhury has appealed to all those engaged in litigations to take the benefit of Lok Adalat proceedings.
