Police arrest innocent boy to take credit after seizing ‘Ganja’ from neighbouring house in Madhupur

Police personnel posted in various police stations have now started trying to take credit by victimizing innocent boys and youths for crimes which they never committed. Such a bizarre incident took place yesterday at Harihardola village under Madhupur police station in Bishalgarh police station. Sources from Madhupur said that a police party had raided the house of Razzaq Mia (43), a notorious ‘Ganja’ peddler, in Harihardola village and seized 17kgs of dry ‘Ganja’ . But no body could be arrested as at the time of the raid there was no inmate in the house.But on their way back the police party without any rhyme or reason picked up a minor boy Rubel Mia (15), son of local resident Habibur Rahaman.

When Rubel’s family members protested the police party told them that the boy was being taken as witness and not under arrest. It was also promised that the boy would set free in the morning but the boy did not return home. Rubel’s mother then reached the police station and queried about her son but the police personnel did not give any satisfactory reply. Rubel was kept sitting in the police station and finally police personnel said that Rubel would be produced in court. The arrest of the innocent boy has caused resentment among people in the Madhupur and Harihardola areas.
