After a long gap, Tripura has once again secured representation in the CPI(M) Politborue Committee, with Chief Minister Manik Sarkar being relieved from the committee and Jiten Chowdhury inducted as a member. Jiten Chowdhury, a senior leader and former minister, has returned to the CPI(M) Politborue Committee after 12 years.
According to CPI(M) norms, individuals above 75 years of age cannot hold positions in party committees. Due to this policy, Manik Sarkar has been released from the Central Committee. But he will be remains in the politborue as special invity member. Consequently, the CPI(M) has inducted Jiten Chowdhury, also the state secretary of the Tripura CPI(M) committee, into the Politborue Committee.
This change was officially announced during the conclusion of the party congress held in Madurai on Sunday. The new Politborue Committee will function for the next three years.
The CPI(M) currently has a 85-member Central Committee, of which four new members were added from Tripura. Four new members from the state—Manik Dey, Naresh Jamatia, Krishana Rakhit, and Ratan Bhowmik—have now been added.
This marks a significant change in CPI(M)'s organizational leadership, signaling generational transition and a new phase of political activity, especially for Tripura.
