People of Saraspur resorted to road blockade to protest against the delaying tactics of contractors, tension

Residents of Saraspur under Kadamtala Block in Dharmanagar resorted to a road blockade movement on Thursday to protest against the delaying tactics of the contractor in repairing the road causing serious inconvenience for the villagers. The situation turned tense when the Junior Engineer of the PWD Biplab Das along with the manager of the construction company Tushar Dhar arrived on the spot as the agitating people started demonestration violently. However, an untoward incident could be prevented due to police intervention. The road blockade was withdrawn after the representative of the construction company assured to complete the work before the rainy season came.

The people were agitated as the contractor cut the road in different places and left the work incomplete for a long time. As a result, the roads turn unusable whenever it rains. Riding a bike or walking on the road also becomes difficult. People said they had drawn the attention of the Chairman of the Panchayat Samity, SDO PWD and all others concerned but no action was taken. It forced them to resort to the road blockade movement. They threatened to resume the agitation if the contractor didn't start work within the next few days.
