Residents of Bir Kumar Para locked the Anganwadi Centre protesting against the appointment of a helper from outside the locality

Residents of Bir Kumer Para at Nutan Nagar sub-division in South Tripura district locked the local Anganwari Centre protesting against the appointment of Pritilata Shil who hails from outside the locality as a helper. They were demanding the appointment of a helper from Bir Kumar Para as the appointment of a helper from the locality is a mandatory provision for Anganwari Centres.

On Wednesday morning, the residents of the locality assembled in front of the Anganwadi Centre and started demonstrations protesting against the appointment of a helper from outside though there are many candidates in the area who are eligible for the job. They also locked the doors of the centre and said it wouldn't be reopened until the appointment is cancelled.

Meanwhile, the nominated advisory committee of Uttar Chellagang ADC Village took the initiative and called a meeting of the locals. They adopted a resolution demanding the cancellation of the appointment of Pritilata Shil. They also proposed to appoint Supriya Chakma as helper. Now all are waiting for a decision from the authorities.
