Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath touched the feet of farmers as a mark of respect during an event at Mohanpur, expressing his deep gratitude for their contributions.
Nath emphasized that farmers are the ones who feed the world. “No religion can feed people, but farmers ensure no one sleeps hungry. They are the true gods, and society should honor them,” he said.
He announced that the Government of India has recognized Tripura’s agricultural achievements and entrusted the state with an additional role. “Tripura will now certify rice grown in Manipur and Mizoram. This highlights our growing influence in the Northeast,” he added.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to farmers, Nath remarked, “Farmers were long denied the respect they deserve. PM Modi has, for the first time, truly acknowledged their contribution post-Independence.”
As part of the event, Nath inaugurated an agricultural seed processing centre at North Lazmilunga in Mohanpur subdivision.
