In a coordinated effort, leaders of the Tipra Motha party, accompanied by local police officers, have identified a site in Ambassa for a planned road blockade set to be started immediately after the final instructions come from Tipramotha founder Pradyot Kishore. This initiative aims to press for the recognition of the Roman script for the Kokborok language instead of greater tipraland demand. The collaboration between party leaders and the police has raised eyebrows among observers, noting the unusual alliance in organizing the protest.

The Tipra Students’ Federation (TSF), affiliated with Tipra Motha, has been actively advocating for the adoption of the Roman script for Kokborok. On March 21, 2025, TSF launched an indefinite state-wide road blockade, leading to significant disruptions, especially for students appearing for ICSE, CBSE and Tripura Board exams. The protesters demanded immediate implementation of the Roman script in educational institutions, its official recognition in government documents, rescheduling of Kokborok examinations until the script issue is resolved, and cessation of policies enforcing the Bengali script on Kokborok learners.

During the blockade, key highways and railway lines including ambulance services were obstructed, causing widespread inconvenience. Notably, the VIP Road in Agartala was blocked, affecting the movement of ambulance, students, employees, daily commuters, and even legislators attending the budget session. Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, founder of Tipra Motha, participated in the agitation, urging the government to address the script issue promptly. It is also reported that Tipramotha and TSF may sit in a demonstration again somewhere in Agartala on Monday.
